Summer jobs, graduate school and other job opportunities in Statistics

The CSU Statistics Department has sent a growing number of undergraduate students to summer programs like those listed below. Without fail the students have returned very happy with their experience and most have gone on to be succesful in graduate school. There are opportunities for graduate students listed here too.


• Paid Summer 2008 Undergrad Research Placements: Over 600 programs: See NSF's link to their REU and other programs. Statistics usually falls under the heading of "mathematical sciences." Another program is the IGERT program. This is primarily a graduate program, but there are summer programs for undergraduates as well and they are listed at this link.

• NIST Boulder Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships for undergraduates majoring in the quantitative sciences and engineering
  
  
• Summer Institutes for Training in Biostatistics. A CSU student doing a math major - stats concentration went to this program a few years ago and got a lot out of it including a job offer and an offer to pay her tuition for graduate school offer. The program also includes free college credit which counts towards your degree at CSU. I highly recommend this program.

Graduate School Information

• CSU's Department of Statistics has active graduate programs at both the MS and PhD levels. We offer assistantships to qualified applicants which covers tuition and includes a monthly stipend to cover living expenses. See this link for more information.
  
  
• Are you finished with your undergraduate degree and thinking about graduate school? There are some great opportunities through the National Science Foundation where students get their school paid for, a $30,000 annual stipend, and other perks just to go to graduate school!
