ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS:
AMERICAN STATISTICAL ASSOCIATION
COLORADO-WYOMING CHAPTER
1996 SPRINT MEETING: 19 April; Boulder, CO

The 1996 Spring Meeting will be held at NCAR in Boulder on Friday, April 19. The schedule will be similar to the '95 meeting: a keynote speaker and invited papers in the morning, student papers in the afternoon, followed by a dinner and social gathering at the Boulder Cork. Registration information and further details will be appearing in early April in the next issue of the Colo-Wyo Chapter Newsletter.

In years past, this one day meeting has proven to be a combination of interesting presentations on a variety of topics as well as an opportunity for our far-flung chapter membership to get together as a group: to renew friendships, make new ones, and strengthen our professional interconnectedness.

The theme for this meeting is biometry (writ large). Two years ago, environmental statistics was the theme; we'd like to encourage contributions from the medical and epidemiological portions of our chapter, as well as topics in the environmental or ecological arenas.

Last year we had a very good turnout of high-quality student presentations in our low-key "competition"; we hope to have as good success this year. Would you please take this opportunity to encourage students to plan on presenting at this meeting? For a beginning speaker, it's a wonderful opportunity to present one's work in a smallish, definitely friendly atmosphere.

Contributed abstracts (from both the general membership and for the student competition) should be submitted to

                                Ken Gerow
                                Department of Statistics

                                Laramie, WY 82071

Deadline for submission is Friday, April 5; abstracts should be limited to 200 words. Submissions are welcome via e-mail (GEROW@UWYO.EDU); if you have any questions, feel free to e-mail or phone (307-766-6600).
