"Multiplicity Personified"

Abstract
"Multiplicity" encompasses one set of well-defined issues in Statistics, largely due to John Tukey's work on the topic. In 1953, he prepared a book-length treatise on how to deal with statistical multiplicity, especially with multiple comparisons. It was published for the first time 40 years later in Volume VIII of The Collected Works of John W. Tukey.

Tukey's interest in the subject never waned. His latest views on multiplicity are presented here. By analogy, "multiplicity" applies also to some prominent characteristics of John Tukey: his mastery of multiple aspects of Statistics, his interests in and contributions to a multiplicity of disciplines, his proven ability to fulfill multiple jobs (and simultaneously multiple consulting and service activities), and his unique multiprocessing talents, all of which are discussed here.
