Who is
Dr. Boardman?
Hello!
My name is Thomas (Tom) J. Boardman and I am Professor of
Statistics at
Colorado State University.
I joined the faculty at CSU as a new assistant professor immediately
after completing my Ph.D. in Applied and Mathematical Statistics
at Rutgers University in
1968. Rutgers is the seventh oldest (1766) university in the
U.S. and is The State University of New Jersey. My wife, Eileen
Clement Boardman, and I were particularly pleased to leave
Central Jersey for the plains of Colorado.
My dissertation
topic had to do with estimation in life testing experiments
with multiple causes of failure. Several publications resulted
and several student research efforts have built upon my work,
most notably in the field of reliability
assessment. To foster the understanding of Deming's philosophy
Professor Rick Edgeman and I created the Center for Quality
and Productivity Improvement and we both served as co-directors.
Although my interest in Quality and Productivity continues,
our center no longer is functioning.
