I recently returned from an NSF-sponsored workshop at Rice University called "Negotiating the Ideal Faculty Position." Along with hearing the advice of several current faculty, I attended sessions about the process from start (what the search committee looks for) to end (how to negotiate a start up package). I also received information about the tenure process and funding, both of which help a young, assistant professor be successful. Now I would like to share the knowledge I gained with you because in the current job market, it is important to put your best foot forward!
BYODrink, Pizza provided at 11:00am, before start of talk.
