In memory of Jim Madison, one of the department’s top students in statistics, who died suddenly in 1966 during his second year of the program, and later expanded to include his parents. Les Madison was a faculty member of the Dept. of Mathematics and Statistics at CSU for 37 years, 12 of which were spent as chair. The award is given each year to the student selected by the statistics faculty as the outstanding graduate student in the statistics and/or mathematics department
