S-Plus Library DVBID (dvbidlib.zip) This file accompanies the S-Plus (copyright by Mathsoft, Inc.) library DVBID written by Brad Biggerstaff Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Center for Infectious Diseases Division of Vector-Borne Infectious Diseases P.O. Box 2087 Fort Collins, CO 80522-2087 U.S.A. (970) 221-6473 // bkb5@cdc.gov The library is only configured to run on Windows machines with S-Plus 4.5 and greater (so including S-Plus 2000). To unpack the library, unzip the contents of the file dvbidlib.zip to the library subdirectory under the S-Plus system files (for example, c:\splus45\library or c:\sp2000\library). Upon putting the library in the proper place, load the library from within S-Plus using either the File/load library menu or with library(dvbid) in the commands window to make the functions accessible within S-Plus. As always, see the S-Plus manuals for details. To use the menus, once the library has been loaded, execute addDVBIDmenus() in the commands window. This only needs to be done once, as the menus will be stored in the _Prefs directory for later sessions. If you wish to remove the DVBID menus, the function removeDVBIDmenus(), also executed from the commands window, will achieve this. If you have trouble getting this to work, you might need to ensure you have write permission to the dvbid and dvbid\_data directories. NOTE: several of the functions in the DVBID library REQUIRE functions in Frank Harrell's Hmisc library, which you may obtain from statlib (http://lib.stat.cmu.edu/DOS/S/Harrell/) or from his site directly (http://hesweb1.med.virginia.edu/biostat/s/index.html). Load the Hmisc library according to the instructions and MAKE SURE the library is loaded whenever DVBID is loaded. The dvbidlib.zip file was created with PKZIP for Windows 32 bit SHAREWARE Version 2.50. The Windows help file dvbid.hlp was created with the help of Brian Ripley's Perl script nr2hlp, the Microsoft Help Compiler Version 3.10.505 referred to in the HowTo file of spwinhlp, and the ActiveState version of Perl also noted there. See the spwinhlp directory in statlib for details (http://lib.stat.cmu.edu/DOS/S/SWin/). This software is provided freely and may be distributed free of charge.
