• Expertise and professional qualifications: Please refer to my curriculum vitae. Although much of my academic research is focused in certain areas, I am trained and have experience in nearly all areas of statistical and biostatistical data analysis.
• Experience: Here are a few interesting consulting projects on which I have worked.
• Legal Support: Review and preparation of expert opinion for lawsuit involving exposure to secondhand smoke.
• Environmental Impact: assessment of a monitoring plan for and impact of a proposed seismic oil exploration in the Beaufort Sea.
• FDA Trials: issues related to the development and testing of an automatic Pap smear scanning machine, including clinical trial design, quality control, repeatability, sequential testing, and sample sizes.
• Forestry Modeling: Bayesian analysis of a carbon balance model for loblolly pine.
• Allometry: investigation of how metabolic rates scale in diverse species.
• Software Instruction: multi-session course on the S-Plus language, analysis, and graphics. I have experience with many other software packages, too.
• Communication skills: I represent the United States as a delegate to the Scientific Committee of the International Whaling Commission. This requires deft, technical debate in a politically charged atmosphere. In classes where I teach consulting and data analysis methods, I emphasize effective technical communication.
