FUNimation is Funny by Zube (zube@stat.colostate.edu) Created: Oct 10, 2006 Updated: Jan 31, 2008 http://www.stat.colostate.edu/~zube/funnymation.txt There are many things that annoy me (no! yes, it's true), but the worst are those that tell me what I can or cannot do. Censor a book and it's the first one I want to read next, for example. Unskippable DVD intros fall into this heinous category. It's bad enough I have to sit through the legalese each time I want to watch something I bought, but to be forced to watch a 90 second intro is too much to endure. FUNimation, a company whose name begs to be ridiculed, puts unskippable trailers at the front of their DVDs. Actually, this *may* not be strictly true. According to some, instead of hitting the menu button (which does nothing) you may be able to skip them by hitting the title button. Regardless, the disabling of the menu button is done on the advice of, I suppose, your average marketing dim bulb. That's not the funny part. Recently, I made a purchase from Right Stuf. Along with my "stuf" I also received a bunch of goodies. In the bunch was a FUNimation DVD called _FUNimation Goes Gonzo_ which included a couple of full length episodes and a zillion trailers. On this DVD, a free DVD, there was no unskippable trailer. I hope someday to wake up and find myself back on planet Earth.
