Compaq, who recently merged with Digital, has decided to take a page from DEC's old, musty, dusty yet industry-fashionable playbook of renaming one's OS. If you don't recall, OSF/1 became Digital Unix a while ago, and sometime before that VMS was re-christened OpenVMS. Now, PC week (Jan 18, 1999) reports the following: "Compaq is expected to make more Unix news next month when it renames Digital Unix to Tru64Unix (sic), according to sources."
