The May 1, 1996 IW reports that OZ is alive and well. It seems that at the AIIM trade show, a sales-droid was demonstrating EDS' Text Services transcription service. "As fast as he could talk into his microphone, his words appeared accurately spelled and grammatically correct on the monitor behind him." Unfortunately, there was a typist "sitting behind a partition typing like mad on a stenographer's machine at 200-plus words per minute." While an EDS representative was telling the audience this fact, the sales-droid still insisted that they "were witnessing voice-recognition-to-text on the fly."
