Since unix went corporate, humor has been in short supply on the unix side. I occasionally see funny stuff in some BSD man pages (the last sentence of the OpenBSD YP man page is good for a chuckle), but rarely anywhere else. Imagine my surprise when I actually found something funny from Sun. The 105284-30 Motif patch for Solaris 2.6 has this little gem that will almost certainly be edited in future releases: ******* Files included with this patch: /usr/dt/lib/libXm.so.3 Problem Description: 4256482 Banging on keyboard like a wild monkey during cde startup causes ******* And, of course, it was changed. The 105284-31 patch has this: 4256482 Banging on keyboard during cde startup causes dtwm hang ********************************************************************** But someone at Sun keeps them coming. This is from 107451-07: 4338420 cron is vulnerable to murder by its children and here are some more: 4110503 as_setprot heuristic gave my process a wedgie 4915431 svm should stop talking trash 4514730 dosynctodr code has structure similar to game of fizzbin 6332990 rpcbind saws off the branch it's sitting on (and dumps core) 6411937 lucreate explodes on contact with mpxio and/or svm Whoever is doing this, thank you and please keep it up.
