That Slayers Song Is _Slapstick of Strange Peoples_ by Zube (zube@stat.colostate.edu) Created: Sep 9, 2007 Updated: Sep 9, 2007 http://www.stat.colostate.edu/~zube/slayersmusic.txt In one sense, my life has been one long quest to find stuff that is made of unobtainium. This particular case concerns anime music, specifically Slayers music, more specifically, one small piece of Slayers music. It took me several years, but with the help of the very nice people in the forums of www.slayersfan.com, I found it. There is a snippet of music that is played in several places in the Slayers series: * During _Pretty Lina's Magic Tips_ * When Amelia first meets Gourry and asks if he works in a pet shop * At the end of several episodes, including the Brass Rackets and Dragon Cuisine episodes. It's an instrumental midtempo piece that is as happy and upbeat as any midtempo piece ever was. I spent several years, very irregularly, trying to find its title. After much ado, a Moderator on slayersfan (Nagafan) correctly identified it and for that I was very, very grateful, but when I went looking for it, I became confused. If you do a search of YouTube for _Slapstick of Strange Peoples_, you will find an Anime Music Video that claims to use the song, but it's most certainly not the music I was looking for. At Armitage's Dimension (http://www.armitunes.com), I could request the song. Is it too much to say "thankyou thankyou thankyou thankyou" to the people who run it? I hope not. It turns out that _Slapstick of Strange Peoples_ is really three short instrumentals stuck together: an uptempo tune, the midtempo tune I was looking for and a frantically fast tune that is used in the AMV from YouTube. So, not only was I looking for a certain snippet of music, it was actually sandwiched between two other snippets; a quick search of the first few seconds of all Slayers music would not have uncovered it. There are few things in life as wonderful and liberating as a kind and helpful expert.
