Statistics Department workshop on microarray analysis

An introductory two-session workshop about using BioConductor for the analysis of Affymetrix microarray data will be given on Monday, 9/26, and Wednesday, 9/28, from 1-3 p.m. in Animal Science Room 200.

The workshop will be repeated on Tuesday, 9/27, and Thursday, 9/29, from 9-11 a.m. in Engineering B2.

The workshop will cover data visualization and exploratory analysis, data preprocessing, gene expression measures, the identification of differentially expressed genes using replicated data, and the annotation of differentially expressed genes using the Gene Ontology.

Time permitting, the use of a simulation framework for sample size determination will also be discussed. The workshop will include demonstrations and discussion.

Those planning to attend the workshop should contact Ann Hess (491-5077, by Wednesday, 9/21.

Those interested in future workshops (including a workshop demonstrating the use of BioConductor for cDNA arrays) should also contact Ann.
