Tidymodels is a joint effort between Max Kuhn (caret package founder) and Hadley Wickham. This is a new package that might be even more powerful than caret and it fits within the tidyverse. There are currently more materials available about caret, but I predict that tidymodels will become eventually dominant. Note: the course instructors don't have a lot of expertise yet with the tidymodels package.
